Welcome to Southern Bliss Salon

Who is ready to get their hair done?! I am officially back to work! I am so thrilled to be here working at this beautiful salon from now on. You can book your appointments through www.schedulicity.com/scheduling/SBS7KM. This is just a soft opening for Southern Bliss. I am trying to catch up on my clients from being out on maternity leave, and also accepting new appointments. We will be having a ribbon cutting soon, and the “Grand Opening” will be later. However, I know my clients have needed to have an appointment for some time now and I would like to go ahead and fit everyone in as needed.

I don’t have anything construction wise to update on, because we are done! So how about I just insert some pictures of our beautiful new place instead. Thank you to all of my clients who have been patient with me as I got everything situated with the salon. I am trying to get in touch with all of you that I have not heard from, so be on the look out for an email from me in the next couple of days. (Believe me, I have a surprise in that email that you won’t want to miss out on!)

SEE YOU SOON!

(This is a “selfie station” beside the shampoo area, coming soon!)

Y’all knew I was gonna add Emmaleigh into this post 😉

Home Stretch!

YOU GUYS!

We are ALMOST THERE! Things have had to slow down a little while we adjusted to a new home life with our precious daughter. Matt has been the main one doing work at the salon along with help from his dad and they have knocked out pretty much everything! I am slowly making my way back out there a couple nights a week just to check and see how progress is coming. So let me fill you in on what’s been happening!

The flooring is officially completed! Minus the employee break-room but that will be finished by tomorrow evening. I am so in love with the floors! At first glance i was concerned of it being too dark which would go against my theme, but they are PERFECT! However i am constantly reminded by Matt how much of a pain it has been to install. 😉

The salon equipment (chairs, mats, mirrors, etc.) is out of boxes and put together! The next step with that is installing the stylist’s stations and mirrors onto the wall. I have a few sneak peek pictures of what the stations will look like, but keep in mind there is still construction dust and little things here and there all around.

For those who have contacted me about appointments in the past, I am now booking appointments starting MAY 8TH! If you would like to go ahead and pre-book your appointment feel free to give me a call or shoot me a message here on Facebook. I am starting to conduct interviews with potential Southern Bliss Stylist’s and will soon be introducing you all to our team.

Thank you for following us on this journey to opening Southern Bliss. You guys mean the world to me! P.S. Check out this picture of my first official client in the new place! How cute is she??

See you all behind my chair VERY soon!

Lots of Updates + SHE’S HERE!

Hello beautiful clients!

Yes you read that correctly, Emmaleigh Renee Handley has finally arrived! I figured I would go ahead and start this post off by saying that since so many of you have been texting/calling and Facebook messaging me asking where my stubborn girl was! She was born March 27, 2017 at 6:22PM. She weighed 7 lbs, 5 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. Perfect in every single way. I could go on and on about my little angel but hey, we’re here for the salon progress!

The last time I updated, we were having the electrician come out to install more outlets. That has now been completed! We also finished the break room wall and the entire building has been painted. A brand new AC unit has been installed so we should be all set for this hot summer weather that’s coming up! I wish I could say all of the hard parts were over, but they’re not!

Our next steps are to install the flooring and start putting together all of the salon equipment. Unfortunately my time has come to an end with helping out at the salon. Now it’s up to Matthew and some amazing family members and friends (who might as well be family) to take over and knock this thing out! We are still shooting for opening up by the end of this month and I couldn’t be more excited! If all goes well I will personally be back to work on May 1st.

I hope you guys are still just as excited as I am! We are working hard on making my dreams a reality and I know I say this every time, but I seriously wouldn’t be where I am today without the amazing group of clients that I have been blessed with. You guys have stayed so loyal to me and I will never be able to thank you enough! Please remember to give me a call if you have any questions or just want to catch up, I’ve got a lot of free time on my hands. 😉

Love you all,

Ash

Plumbers, Framers, Mudding, Oh My!

Hello lovelies!

Things are starting to move at a faster pace! I’ve got quite a bit to update on thank goodness! I have been out to the salon every single day for the past week and a half letting the plumbers inside at 8AM. I don’t mind it, Noah and I have been enjoying the donut shop next door for breakfast in the mornings! We’ve gotten our permits approved, and the plumbing work is almost finished. Buzzell plumbing has done a wonderful job with my shampoo sinks. They are (for the most part) finished except for a little bit of cleaning up and bringing in the hot water heater.

On Sunday the 12th, we had a framer come and install sheet rock for our employee break-room. He did a great job, however he only (literally) installed the frame and sheet rock. So who’dya think took it upon themselves to mud the walls
and finish the drywall? ME! And Matthew! So that’s definitely been interesting. We started late Sunday evening and made it home around 11PM. We’re feeling pretty sore today but hey, I’m trying to work this baby on out! Let me also express that we have no experience whatsoever when it comes to mudding drywall. But, as long as the job gets done that’s okay! Last night was only the beginning of what has to be done to the walls. It will be a couple more days before the mudding is complete. But here’s a photo of what we did last night, which is basically just covering screw holes and filling in the seams between walls!

Just to fill you in on what’s to come, we have an electrician coming out this week to add some more outlets and bring power to the washer/dryer and hot water heater. We will continue working on finishing up these walls, and then it will be time for PAINT! I’ll probably update again once we’ve finished with painting and started installing the floors.

The website is now up and running, and we also have a phone number. (478-352-1307) For now, it will send you straight to a recorded voicemail but feel free to leave a message and I’ll call you back! We also have our Facebook page created so be sure to share it with all of your friends! I hope you guys are enjoying the blog updates! I want you all to know what I’ve been up to and how things are coming along. Don’t hesitate to ask me anything or call me! I can’t wait to be back behind the chair!

Much Love,

Ash

Making Progress & Bumps Along the Way

As I’m sitting here, staring at this blinking curser waiting for me to type, I am simply at a loss for words. So many amazing things are happening for my career right now. There is so much to update on, and so much that’s in the works that I can’t even remember it all! I want to first give you the run down on everything that’s done, then tell you what is in the works still.

First things first, I am approved by the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology! It took a while to be approved, because I ended up taking some online classes for health and safety, and even managed to find one that had some color education as well! While I am on the topic of boring things, we’ve selected a plumber.
Work has already started in full force! However it hasn’t been easy getting to this point. I’ve noticed things are A LOT tougher with the City of Perry. We had to first submit plans and blueprints of what we planned to change in the building, which has to be approved by the city. Once approved, it has to go to the Fire Marshall for another approval. That is what we are currently waiting on. We also have to have electrical work done, but it isn’t very much and shouldn’t take long at all. Eeeek!

Now that the boring stuff is out of the way, MY EQUIPMENT IS HERE! I purchased all new equipment from Minerva Beauty. I am head over heels in love with it all. It arrived by FedEx Freight, that was something totally new to me. It totaled to 5 palettes consisting of 57 boxes, and weighed in nearly at 2,000 pounds. I also hadn’t realized the truck driver was not responsible for bringing the shipments into the building for me, fun! (NOT.) I am very grateful to have had the driver that I did, because he ended up bringing them inside for me anyway. Noah loved posing for pictures on the new equipment, he is such a goof ball.

For now, boxes is where the equipment will have to stay. We did however get to put together the shampoo stations, the plumbers will need that to get everything hooked up and ready. Matthew hated every second of putting them together, but he loves me so he did it anyway. Not being able to work right now is already taking a toll on me, and it’s only been a week! I am not one to sit around and do nothing, hence why I’m typing a novel about what’s been going on. Matt & I are working very hard on getting the website ready. For those of you who don’t know, he has his masters in IT and is currently working on his doctorate. How’d I get so lucky? My job is to keep you all up to date, and his job is to get the website working as fast as possible, while we wait on the rest of the permits from the Fire Marshall so we can move along with all of the work. I miss you guys so much! I hope I make you proud with the new salon.

P.S. Emmaleigh and I are doing just fine. I am taking it easy for now and enjoying these last couple weeks (or days, who knows!) of having just Noah around. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers, we appreciate it!

Love always,

Ash
